1118 Salvation Army 3.JPG

Many locals came out to the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle kick-off event Saturday. Hot dogs, popcorn and drinks were given out. Children enjoyed jumping in the bouncy houses, face painting and other activities. Pictured in the elf suit is Steve Rowe, who volunteered to be a bell ringer for the kick off of the red kettle campaign. Red kettles will be out in the community beginning at Piggly Wiggly on Nov. 20-21, and then they will be out in full force at other local businesses, including Walmart, on Black Friday, Nov. 23, through Christmas Eve. Anyone interested in being a bell ringer can contact local Salvation Army Director Susie Waddell or Red Kettle Coordinator Shelia Harris at 386-1503. Local businesses that would be interested in being a sponsor to have a red kettle placed at their store can contact them as well.
