VALDOSTA —
A body was discovered this morning at Lowndes High School, said Lowndes County Sheriff Chris Prine. Authorities are reportedly working the case as a homicide. Deputies and investigators are on scene at the school.
Parents are slowly being allowed onto campus to check out students, according to reports from the scene.
The Lowndes County school board reports no schools are locked down, according to a recorded phone message at the school board office. Classes are in session and students will be dismissed at their regular times this afternoon.

Manhunt called off Thursday afternoon
The manhunt in Omega for three suspects from Colquitt County was called off at 5 p.m. Thursday. The massive search began sometime around lunch between Omega-Eldorado Road and Omega-Ellenton Road in a wooded area, southeast of Omega, following an incident that occurred in Colquitt County, which then led to Tift County.
