TIFTON —
A 56-year-old Tifton woman was killed Tuesday morning when she pulled from a stop sign into the path of another vehicle.
According to SFC Stan Stalnaker, Tifton’s Georgia State Patrol post commander, Rhonda Mixon Green was traveling east on Earle Hutchinson Road when she stopped at the stop sign at Zion Hope Road. She then pulled out into the path of Deidra Lynn Miller, 29, also of Tifton, who was traveling south on Zion Hope Road.
Stalnaker said Miller’s 2011 Ford F-250 pickup struck Green’s 2002 Isuzu Rodeo on the driver’s side. Green was killed and Miller was transported by Tift County Emergency Medical Service to Tift Regional Medical Center. She was treated and released Tuesday, according to a hospital spokesperson.
Stalnaker said the accident happened at 8:04 a.m. Tuesday. He said there was some rain in the area but there was no indication to suggest that poor visibility was a factor in the accident. He also said he didn’t believe speed played a factor in the severity of the accident and no charges would be filed in the case.
