The City of Tifton is very unique because it has had four past winners of the Georgia Family Business of the Year Award and recently a fifth winner of the Cox Century Award, “The Big Store.”

Family business plays a crucial role in Georgia’s economy and society.
To emphasize the tremendous contributions provided by family businesses, Kennesaw State University’s Cox Family Enterprise Center initiated this annual program in 1992.
Georgia Family Business of the Year Awards are given to firms demonstrating the results of combining strong business with strong family. In addition to business success, those recognized demonstrate: positive family/business linkage, multi-generational familybusiness involvement, contributions to industry and community.
