TIFTON — Greg Millette, executive director of Coastal Plain CASA, was recently elected to a three-year term on the Georgia CASA Board of Directors. He was chosen by his peers to serve as one of four affiliate CASA program representatives.
“I am honored to be selected for this position of trust by my fellow CASA directors and look forward to assisting the CASA network as a member of the Georgia CASA Board,” said Millette. In addition to his general duties as a board member, Millette will serve on both the long-range planning and marketing committees.
Duaine Hathaway, executive director of Georgia CASA, stated that, “As one of the affiliate program representatives on the Georgia CASA Board of Directors, I’m sure that Greg will not only bring the perspective of an executive director of a multi-circuit, rural, nonprofit organization, but also be able to share the successes and challenges of all CASA affiliates. We look forward to Greg’s involvement on the Board, and his articulate and visionary thinking will be a great asset to the Georgia CASA Board of Directors.”
Millette has served as executive director of Coastal Plain CASA for more than four years. During his tenure, the CASA program has provided sixty-five volunteer advocates for 319 foster children
Coastal Plain CASA is an independent non-profit serving the foster children of the Tifton Judicial Circuit through community volunteers. Volunteers assist a specific child or sibling group, monitoring their circumstances and advocating for appropriate resources and a safe, permanent home. Each volunteer is screened, trained and guided by CASA staff.
Georgia CASA develops affiliate CASA programs across the state and provides support services to its affiliates. Last year, over 1,870 CASA volunteers served over 8,760 children in Georgia. Currently, 47 affiliates serve 126 counties in the state.
