DULUTH — A 27-year-old Gwinnett County police officer has been placed on administrative leave after being charged with driving under the influence.
Police say James Stoudenmire, a four-year veteran of the Gwinnett County Police Department, was driving a car that struck another car stopped at a traffic light in unincorporated Gwinnett County early Saturday.
Officers say the off-duty policeman told investigating officers that he'd had four drinks.
Stoudenmire was arrested and taken to the Gwinnett County Detention Center, where he posted bail of $1,557 and was released.
The department says Stoudenmire is on administrative leave pending an internal investigation.
A passenger in the other vehicle was treated at the scene after complaining of a leg injury.
