Networks say Barack Obama re-elected

After calling the state of Ohio for President Barack Obama around 11:15 Tuesday night, the news networks of Fox, NBC, MSNBC and CNN all declared that Obama, the Democratic candidate,  had been re-elected to serve a second term as the United States President. Obama defeated former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, the Republican candidate.

According to an Associated Press article, which did not declare Obama the victor, the President tweeted to his supporters, "This happened because of you. Thank you."

Romney was in Massachusetts after a long and grueling bid for the presidency.
