TIFTON —
Moultrie Technical College held its semi-annual Nurse Pinning Ceremony Dec. 13 for Fall Semester 2012 at the college’s Veterans Parkway Campus conference center in Moultrie. The ceremony honored 11 graduates from the MTC Moultrie and Tifton Campus Practical Nursing programs, which require five terms of in-class study and many hours of hands-on clinical experience in area hospitals and physicians’ offices. The graduates will sit for the Georgia Board of Examiners of Licensed Practical Nurses exam within the next month to become eligible to be employed as nurses. County millage rate remains same
Tift County Commissioners voted unanimously in a called meeting Tuesday to keep the millage rate set at 12.183 for both incorporated and unincorporated areas of the county.
The rate was set at .312 mills for the Special Services Tax District, which includes Ty Ty and Omega. -

Fire wipes out home, no one injured

Drive to help firefighters now under way
Nicole Taylor, 20, is once again heading up her Water and Gatorade Drive this summer for local firefighters to fight heat exhaustion. The drive kicked off Monday and will continue until July 31.

TCSO staff become C.H.A.M.P.S. certified
Tift County sergeants Keith Newell and Ryner Patrick with the Tift County Sheriff’s Office are now certified instructors for the Choosing Healthy Activities and Methods Promoting Safety (C.H.A.M.P.S.) program after recently completing training at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center in Forsyth.
