Cook High head coach Mac Thompson has suddenly died. He was only 39. Thompson just completed his first season in Adel, and he led the Hornets to a 7-6 record and a quarterfinals appearance in Class AA. Thompson coached previously at Calera (Ala.) for three seasons.
