MOULTRIE — The 2010 Calico Spring Arts and Crafts Show will be held March 20-21 at Spence Field in Moultrie. Anyone who has caught Spring fever should make a point of attending the show and seeing a variety of lawn and garden crafts made by a variety of artists.
Make your backyard a main attraction with an unforgettable, handmade birdhouse or bird feeder salvaged from old barn wood and pine furniture by Charles Bush of Damascus. Seasonal wreaths or floral arrangements from Jeannie and Frances Routh of Moultrie come in a variety of vivid colors. Bring nature indoors with a hand-painted window by Stathia Hammond of Southport, N.C. and see charming scenery through her eyes.
Women can add a twist to their wardrobe with any of the accessories available from Hollywood, S.C. crafter Caroline Sandlin. The Carolina native makes rustic, casual style jewelry by combining her own handcrafted pottery beads, with a variety of other items that include stone beads, African recycled glass beads, ethnic wood and bone beads, shells and coral. She finishes each piece with her own bench fabricated sterling accents and clasps.
From ornamental iron home and garden decor to painted glass and antiques to whimsical painted children’s furniture and accessories, it’s all together in one location. Don’t forget all the delicious gourmet delights to savor. These items are made by local artisans and crafts people and buying them supports the local economy.
Clogging teams from around the South will entertain the crowds on both days.
The show is open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday. Adult admission is $5. Parking is free and children 12 years old and younger are admitted free.
Spence Field is located 4 miles southeast of U.S. Highway 319 on Highway 133.
