Former Tift County sheriff Edd Walker, who served from 1973 until 1996, died this morning at his residence. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Memorial Day observance held
In observance of Memorial Day, the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 38 held their annual Memorial Day ceremony Saturday morning at the Leroy Rogers Senior Center. Several people were in attendance, including Tifton Mayor Jamie Cater, City Councilman Chris Parrott and members of the Tallassee Chapter.

When Chad Alexander, Tift County Tax Commissioner and past Tifton Sertoma Club president, stood before the club and welcomed the day's guest speaker, Tifton Police Department's Lt. Steve Hyman, he had a surprise for Hyman – Hyman has been named the club's 2013 recipient of its Service to Mankind Award. -

“Keep calm and stop the violence,” “Save our streets” and “No more violence” were the words echoed by Eighth Street Middle School students early Tuesday morning as they stood in front of the school behind caution tape and orange cones, shouting and holding up signs as they waved at passing motorists who smiled and returned the gesture.

Tifton man arrested in marijuana sting
The Mid-South Narcotics Task Force, along with the Tift County Sheriff’s Office, served a search warrant May 7 on the residence of 36-year-old Daniel Eubanks, located at 905 36th Street in Tifton. The search warrant was served as part of a joint investigation with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office into Eubanks' marijuana distribution.
