Law enforcement still investigating reports of break-ins

TIFTON — Burglaries of local residences and businesses are continuing to keep law enforcement officials busy. The most recent reports are listed below.

• A man who lives in the 1800 block of Chula-Brookfield Road reported Tuesday someone stole coils from his air conditioner.

•A woman who lives in the 300 block of Rutherford Street reported Tuesday someone took $606 in cash, $1,750 in jewelry and $250 in other items from her home without her permission.

• A man who lives in the 400 block of Chesnutt Avenue reported that Monday when he returned from a doctor’s appointment he found someone had broken into his home. The report stated an old 32-caliber police special pistol, an old 22-caliber break action rifle, number 16-gauge shotgun shells and some 12-gauge shotgun shells were missing. The man reported someone had kicked in the front of his gun cabinet and that two of his guns were found wrapped up in a blanket and lying on his couch.

• A woman who lives in the 400 block of Chesnutt Avenue reported Monday someone had kicked in her front door and gone through her residence. The woman did not report anything missing at the time of the report.

• A woman who lives in the 1300 block of Ermine Avenue reported Tuesday she was waiting outside her residence for an officer because when she returned home she discovered the lights inside the residence were on but should not have been. The officer responding stated in his report that he walked around the residence and found no sign of forced entry. He stated he found the door of the residence unlocked and entered the residence to conduct a “protective sweep.” He then asked the woman to come inside to see if there was anything missing. The woman noticed someone used her bathroom, and did not flush the toilet. She also reported her IPod was missing from the living room.

• A woman who lives in the 1400 block of Prince Avenue reported Tuesday when she returned home, she discovered that all the electrical cords in her apartment had been cut and thrown in the trash. Someone had also thrown cooking grease down the sink, in the oven and on a television set in her bedroom. Nothing appeared to be stolen, according to the report.

• A man who lives in the 400 block of Prince Avenue reported Tuesday someone had attempted to kick in his back door. A neighbor reported he saw a suspicious person at the residence who was looking in the man’s windows. The report added a door frame was slightly damaged.
