Kentucky Fried Chicken manager James Edward (Jim) Harris, who operated the Nashville restaurant, was charged Friday with drug possession.

According to a statement from the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office, “After receiving information that illicit drugs were being used and sold at the KFC restaurant in Nashville, Chief of Police John Clayton ordered further investigation which, on Friday, July 22nd, resulted in the arrest of the restaurant manager, 31-year-old Jim Harris, a resident of Alapaha.”

Prior to the arrest law enforcement held the restaurant under surveillance and gathered evidence that enabled them to secure a search warrant which was served at approximately 11 a.m. Chief Clayton was accompanied by five Nashville officers and served the warrant without incident.

According to the Berrien County Sheriff’s office; the search resulted in the seizure of marijuana, Oxycodone, Vicodin, Hydrocodone and a .38 caliber Smith & Wesson revolver, all of which were allegedly in the possession of Harris.

Harris was arrested and taken to the Berrien County Jail with four charges of possession of a controlled substance, one charge of possession of marijuana, and one charge of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

The Gazette contacted management of the Nashville KMC, who declined to make any comment at this time.

Assistant Chief Chuck Edwards indicated the case remains open as the investigation continues.
