TIFTON —
Chili lovers will be glad to know that the Tift County Commission on Children and Youth’s annual “Chili for Children” fundraiser event is back again this year. While enjoying a great meal, contributors will also be supporting a great cause.
The TCCCY focuses on improving conditions for children and their families. They are partnering with Wendy’s and Tift Regional Medical Center for the fundraiser. Tickets are currently being sold for $5 — this includes a large cup of Wendy’s chili, crackers, tea or water, and a homemade dessert baked by Tift County 4-H members.
The tickets can be purchased in advance from the TCCCY at 418 N. Ridge Ave., by e-mailing tc3y@friendlycity.net or by contacting Executive Director Lillie McEntyre at the TCCCY office at 388-1000. Tickets will not be available for purchase on the day of the event.
The meal is dine in or carry out between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Friday, March 8 at the Leroy Rogers Senior Center on Second Street.
McEntyre said that all proceeds from the event will benefit TCCCY, which will help them to directly make an impact in the areas of child abuse and neglect, teen pregnancy, drug and alcohol abuse, underage drinking and graduation rates.
“Chili for Children” is TCCCY’s biggest fundraiser of the year, says McEntyre. She noted that this is the Tift County 4-H’s second year helping with the fundraiser. She stated that other community partners also volunteer their time every year to sell tickets and serve the chili.
