Two men were transported to Tift Regional Medical Center where they were treated and released after a wreck Tuesday morning at the intersection of Oakridge Church Road and U.S. Highway 41 South. James Burkette, 53, of Alma, was driving a Grace Transport rig out of Broxton west on Oakridge Church Road when his tractor trailer collided with a Dodge Ram 3500 driven by Earl Stephens, 56, of Omega, according to TFC Ben Taylor of the Georgia State Patrol. Burkette was charged with failure to stop for a stop sign. Taylor said that Burkette’s rig did not have any cargo at the time. In addition to Taylor, also responding to the accident were the Tifton-Tift County Sheriff’s Office, the Tifton-Tift County Fire Department and the state Department of Public Safety.
