ASHBURN —
The Turner County Arts Council (TCAC) is hosting another class for the “Make It and Take It” art series. The class is scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22 at Ashburn First United Methodist Church in the fellowship hall. The church is located at 406 N. Main St.
“Whether you are a beginner, a professional or have never painted in your life, we want you to participate in this fun and relaxing class,” says Julie West with TCAC.
The cost is $25 for adults (ages 13 and over). This one price includes all of your painting supplies and instructor fees. There are also student scholarships available. Please inquire by e-mailing turnercoartscouncil@gmail.com or calling 567-4440 to leave a message.
“This is going to be a fun night. We invite groups, couples and individuals to come out. We usually have parents come with their children. All you have to do is register by the deadline and pre-pay your fee,” says West.
The registration deadline is Wednesday, Feb. 20. Local artist Brenda Tripp will teach this session. The painting is named “Homestead” and features a rustic cabin on a moonlit night in the mountains. Close by are four deer grazing in the snow.
“It just feels warm and cozy,” West stated.
This is the third class in this successful art series, she said.
“All of our participants always have such a good time while painting. We compliment each other and laugh at ourselves, but in the end, everyone walks out with their very own masterpiece,” West stated.

Downtown Farmer's Market opens Saturday

UGA Tifton Campus funding approved
When Gov. Nathan Deal signed the budget recently passed by the Georgia state legislature, a long-awaited renovation project for the University of Georgia Tifton Campus was finally moved forward.The budget includes $4.7 million for the renovation of the Tift building on the UGA Tifton Campus.
