TIFTON — Reports of residential and commercial burglaries and car break-ins continue to dominate crime reported to the Tifton Police Department and the Tift County Sheriff’s Office.
Reports to law enforcement agencies over the past few days include:
• A man who lives in the 2900 block of Fourth Avenue reported Saturday someone slashed two tires on his vehicle that was parked at his residence.
• A man who lives on U.S. Highway 125 South reported Sunday someone forced open the door of his residence, and stole $300 in cash and $760 worth of electronics.
• A man who lives on Fairway Drive reported Friday someone stole an orange and black leaf blower, valued at $200, and an orange and black edger, also valued at $200, from his residence.
• An employee of Milan Express, 14 Tech Drive, reported Monday someone had stolen electronics valued at $150, as well as $80 worth of additional items, from the business after throwing a rock through the glass on the front door to gain entry.
• A man who lives on Eagle Drive reported Friday someone had stolen $2,610 worth of items from his storage room.
• A 54-year-old man reported Sunday he had been assaulted. The report stated the incident happened at 301 W. Seventh St. The man told the officer filing the report two unknown people jumped him and beat him in the face. The man was not sure where the beating took place and he did not have a description of the men who assaulted him. The officer noted both of the victim’s eyes were swollen and bruised, with one of them bleeding around the eyelid and that his nose was also swollen. The man was transported to Tift Regional Medical Center for treatment.
• A man who lives in the 800 block of Eighth Street reported Saturday someone had stolen a Cobra (38 special Derringer, blue with black handles) valued at $195, an AT&T; LG Shine cell phone valued at $250 and $40 in cash from his vehicle, which was parked under his carport and locked. The officer noted in his report someone had broken something off inside one of the key holes in the vehicle.
• A man who lives in the 800 block of Eighth Street reported Saturday someone had entered his vehicle, which was parked under his carport, and stolen a black Guess wallet valued at $50, $28 in cash, a green immigration card, a driver’s license, a Social Security card and two bank cards. A second report said a man reported Sunday he had found several pieces of the man’s property while he was walking his dog on Sixth Street.
• A man who lives in the 600 block of Ridge Avenue reported Sunday someone stole a black GPS system from his vehicle. The item is valued at approximately $40.
• A woman who lives in the 1100 block of Ridge Avenue reported Sunday someone had broken a window at her residence but that she was not missing any property. The officer noted in his report he found broken glass on the floor and the screen to the window had been cut. he noted there was fresh damage to the front door’s trim and that it appeared someone had tried to gain entry to the residence through the door.
• A man who lives in the 800 block of Eighth Street reported Saturday someone entered his vehicle, which was parked under his carport, and stole a black Nautica wallet, valued at $50; $40 in cash and an unknown amount of loose change. The wallet also reportedly contained a credit card, a Best Buy charge card, a Bank of America card and a BP gas card.
• A woman who lives in the 100 block of Lawson Court reported Monday someone entered her boyfriend’s vehicle and stole several items with a total value of $85, as well as $120 in cash.
• A woman who lives in the 2700 block of Highland Avenue reported Monday someone kicked in her front door and stole several pieces of jewelry and a 22-caliber handgun. The gun’s estimated value is $250.
• A woman who lives on Sherri Lane reported Monday someone entered her truck and stole her brown leather pocketbook valued at $60. She reported the pocketbook contained $60 in cash, her checkbook, driver’s license, a Social Security card, personal papers and an envelope containing $300.
• A man who lives in the 100 block of William Gibbs Road reported Monday someone damaged his mailbox by striking it with a blunt object until it was knocked off its post. The responding deputy wrote in his report two additional mailboxes on the road had also been damaged.
• An employee of Taylor Kincaid Insurance, 112 E. 12th St., reported Monday the business had been burglarized. The report stated the offender stole several items, including a Canon 35mm camera valued at approximately $500, a brown leather briefcase valued at approximately $65 and a Panasonic stereo, valued at approximately $80. The officer reported it appeared to him that the side door of the business had been kicked in.
• A man who lives in Red Bird Trailer Park, 1020 Ferry Lake Road, reported Monday someone had burglarized his residence. The front door appeared to have been forced open and pry marks were visible and the residence was ransacked. No items were reported missing from the residence.
