TIFTON — A Moultrie man was arrested and charged with trafficking in cocaine and investigators confiscated a .40-caliber handgun and several thousands of dollars in cash when he was arrested.
Eliel Mireles, 28, 153 Lewis Road, Moultrie, was arrested in Omega Wednesday and charged with trafficking in cocaine. He is currently being held at the Tift County Jail and additional charges are pending.
According to a press release from the Tift County Sheriff’s Office, the investigation included agents with that office, the Mid-South Narcotics Task Force, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Drug Enforcement Agency. During the operation, a transaction was arranged and a large quantity of cocaine was purchased from Mireles in the Omega area, according to the press release. When Mireles was taken into custody, agents seized the handgun and cash.
