TIFTON — An armed robbery, burglaries and vandalisms reported over the weekend kept officers with the Tifton Police Department and deputies with the Tift County Sheriff’s Office busy.

A 32-year-old Hispanic man reported to a police officer early Sunday morning that he had been robbed at gunpoint in the parking lot of Flash Foods convenience store at 802 W. Seventh St.

According to the incident report, the officer responded to the store clerk’s complaint that a prostitute was in the parking lot of the store harassing customers. When he arrived, the officer saw a Hispanic male enter the store on the east side of the building. The officer stated in his report that he drove around the building and then behind the car wash and then back towards the south end of the building where he saw the Hispanic male again. The officer said the man waved at him and stated that he had been robbed 10-15 minutes earlier.

The man told the officer that a small white car pulled up on the right side of his vehicle and a young black male who appeared to be 12 or 13 years old, got out of the car, walked over and stood to the left of his truck. The man said he then walked toward the front of his truck and intended to go into the store when a man he thinks is between 25 and 30 years old, wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans, got out of the car and walked up to him. The victim said the man pulled out a small handgun and pointed the gun in his face and demanded his money. The victim said the man then called for the boy standing behind them to come over and take his wallet out of his back pocket. The victim said the man and the boy then got back into the white car, driven by a third man, and left, headed south on Magnolia Drive, then east on 11th Street.

The complainant said the offenders took his black wallet valued at $20. He said the wallet contained his Social Security card, a debit card, a Georgia driver’s license and a $100 bill.

Other incidents reported to the Tifton Police Dept. over the weekend included:

• A woman who lives in the 1500 block of Coley Street reported Friday that someone had broken into her home and her vehicle and stolen items. She told the officer that a .22-caliber revolver worth $150 was taken out of a fire safe and a Dell laptop worth $1,210 was also stolen from the residence. She also reported that a JVC CD player valued at $500 was taken from her truck parked outside the residence.

• An employee of the Athletic Attic in the Tifton Mall off Virginia Avenue reported that when he opened the store for business Friday morning he found the back doors standing open and several pairs of Jordan tennis shoes worth $300 missing.

• An employee of B & B Vendors off East Third Street reported Saturday that someone had broken into a vendor truck and stolen a variety of snacks.

• A woman who lives in the 400 block of East Third Street reported that someone broke into her home and stole a 54-inch big screen television worth $600, a 36-inch Sanyo flat screen television set worth $800 and a window air conditioning unit worth $150 from the residence.

• A woman who lives in the 800 block of North Park Avenue reported that someone broke the window out of the right front passenger’s window in her SUV and stole $200 from the vehicle’s ashtray.

Weekend incidents reported to the Tift County Sheriff’s Office included:

• An employee of Buddy’s Rental Service, 216 U.S. Highway 82 E., reported that someone entered a residence in the 2500 block of New Avenue and stole $2,000 worth of electronic equipment belonging to the company.

• A woman who lives in a residence on T.C. Gordon Road reported Friday that someone broke into her home and stole $15 in cash, $315 worth of jewelry and $300 worth of firearms.

• A man who lives in the 2100 block of U.S. Highway 82 East reported Sunday that someone stole equipment worth $900 from his shed on his property.
