Annual Fishing Rodeo coming soon

TIFTON — The Tifton Police Department and ABAC’s Forestry and Wildlife Club will hold their annual Fishing Rodeo at 7:30 a.m. Oct. 11 at Paradise Public Fishing Area, eight miles east of Tifton on the Brookfield-Nashville Road off U.S. Highway 82 near Brookfield.

This year, the fishing rodeos for kids and senior citizens will be combined and held at the same time.

“I feel this will give our kids and senior citizens a chance to interact with each other and it will give grandparents and grandchildren something to do outside,” said Lt. Steve Hyman of the TPD.

Cup Lake, Saucer Lake and Bowl Lake will be open for those fishing in the rodeo. The lakes are stocked with catfish, bream and bass. Door prizes will be given for youth and seniors participating.

Kids under 15 fish free. People 55-64 years old will be required to purchase a one-day fishing pass that costs $3.50. The one-day fishing license can be purchased at outlets that sell fishing licenses. Participants 65 years old and older will be allowed to fish for free.

“This is your invitation to get out and wet a hook with your friends and family,” Hyman said.
