VALDOSTA — 1. Reed Bingham State Park in Adel will host a Labor Day Luau from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4. Activities include country music and southern rock with The Other Tuckers and The Joshua Keith Band, lots of fun games for the kids, as well as face painting, wildlife presentations and a kids treasure hunt on the beach. Parking is $5. Facilities may be available for those who want to reserve a picnic or group shelter or pioneer or RV/tent campsite. The park is home to several species, including gopher tortoises, spotted turtles, limpkins, moorhens, nesting bald eagles, turkey vultures, and alligators. 2. The Lanier County Lions Club will sponsor its 40th Flatlanders Fall Frolic Saturday, Sept. 4. Activities include an Arts and Crafts Show, a Dawg-Gone Good Race, and a Frolic Concert. The Arts and Crafts show will kick off at 9 a.m. at the Threatte Center. Admission is $3 for adults and $1 for children between the ages of 6 and 12. Until 5 p.m., visitors can enjoy antiques, special activities for children, and more. The Dawg-Gone Good Race (a 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run) will begin at 8 a.m. in the First Baptist Church parking lot. Registration will begin at 7 a.m. The Frolic Concert will feature Sundance Jenkins outside the Threatte Center and guests should bring a lawn chair. 3. Wild Adventures Theme Park will pay tribute to working men and women with Red, White and You Saturday, Sept. 4, through Monday Sept. 6. As part of the event, guests can donate a canned food item to America’s Second Harvest of South Georgia and receive a free general admission with the purchase of a regular general admission. On Saturday, park visitors can enjoy displays and demonstrations by Air Methods, the Hahira Fire Department, Kenny’s Roadside Rescue, the Lowndes County Emergency Management Agency, Lowndes County Fire Rescue, the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office, American Red Cross, South Georgia Medical Center, and Valdosta Fire Department.
