TIFTON — American Textile Co. of Duquesne, Pa., is moving its North American distribution operations from Duquesne to Tifton, creating up to 100 jobs here.
The announcement was made Thursday by the Tift County Development Authority and the Tifton-Tift County Chamber of Commerce, which said the move represents a “significant local investment.”
“American Textile’s decision to relocate its distribution center to Tift County is great news for our community,” said Grady Thompson, chairman of the Tift County Development Authority and of the Tift County Board of Commissioners.
“We have continued to work closely with company officials since they opened their manufacturing facility in Tifton in 2011. Our partnership with ATC has continued to grow, just as we thought it would.”
The distribution operation will include all of the company’s basics products, including mattress pads, mattress protectors and pillow protectors. The company will continue to manufacture and distribute bed pillows from regional locations throughout the country.
“ATC is focused on being a leading supplier of bedding products. We are proud to be a key partner with them as they strive to achieve this mission with the relocation of their U.S. distribution to Tifton,” said Brian Marlowe, president and CEO of both the Chamber of Commerce and the Development Authority.
“We continue to offer companies an excellent strategic location, an available and qualified labor force and a business-friendly environment. ATC is a quality company, and we will continue to work with and on their behalf to ensure their success,” Marlowe said.
Carla Hall, outgoing Chamber of Commerce chairman, said “American Textile Co. is a family-owned business with values and goals for growth that complement our community. We could not be more pleased in their decision to move their North American distribution center to Tifton.”
Mayor Jamie Cater added that he is “pleased to congratulate American Textile Co. on their success and growth. Their commitment and value to our community continues to pay dividends. We are thankful they chose Tifton for this venture, and we look forward to an enduring partnership.”
ATC is planning a job fair before the facility opens. The company says it provides sleep products that provide health and wellness benefits which increase sleep comfort. Products are available at large and small retailers across the United States and Canada.
