ASHBURN —
Classical guitarist Jeff Bianchi will give a one-hour concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12 at Ashburn First United Methodist Church, located at 406 N. Main St. (Highway 41). The date marks one of Bianchi’s first performances of the year, which will include numerous concerts around the United States.
As a native of Williamson, N.Y., Bianchi gave full concerts throughout Western New York. His hard work earned him performances at the Rantucci International Guitar Festival, as well as the nationally recognized Ithaca Guitar Festival. His concerts continued with his move to Atlanta in the summer of 2002.
From 2005 to 2007, Bianchi took a hiatus to tour nationally with country acts Young Guns (Nashville, Tenn.) and Chace Roberts (St. Paul, Minn.).
As an electric guitarist, Bianchi toured much of North America, playing at clubs and dance halls with capacity crowds. It was an exciting time in his life and was quite the adventure. On his return home, he resumed his solo performances. By 2009, he was touring throughout Georgia, playing in places such as Savannah, Tybee Island, Toccoa, Richmond, Duluth and Hartwell.
In February of 2010, Bianchi undertook his first cross country solo tour. Making stops in Georgia, Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas, he gave concerts for audiences as large as 600 people. The overwhelming success of this tour enabled him to expand his solo career to a national level. Bianchi continued his success in 2011 with performances in Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, Mississippi, Louisiana and Florida.
His success sky rocketed in 2012 with successful concerts as far away as Colorado, Wyoming and Idaho. Appearances were also made in Ohio, Texas and most of the southeast. His plan for the current year is to keep performing as much as possible in order to help prepare for eventual international touring.
On coming to Ashburn, Bianchi says “I am always very excited to have the opportunity to perform for new audiences. I always enjoy visiting new places and introducing people to the classical guitar. Having the opportunity to play in Ashburn will be a great way to start the year off.”
The concert will include music by Fernando Sor, Issac Albeniz and Jose Luis Merlin. Tickets are $5 at the door. If you present a dinner receipt dated Jan. 12 from any Turner County restaurant, your ticket will be $4.
CDs will be available after the performance for $10. For more information, visit Bianchi’s website at www.velvetguitar.com.
