Local man reportedly hit by train Thursday

TIFTON — A Tifton man who was hit by a train Thursday remains in fair condition at Tift Regional Medical Center.

A Tift County E-911 dispatcher received a call from a Norfolk Southern Railroad employee at approximately 4:23 p.m. Thursday reporting the incident. The accident happened at the area of Golden Road and the railroad tracks, an incident report filed by a Tift County Sheriff’s deputy said.

The victim, James Gray, 54, gave 147 Windy Hill Road as his address. He told the deputy that he didn’t hear the train coming down the track. Gray reportedly told the deputy that the train hit his right arm.

Tift County Emergency Medical Service personnel transported Gray to Tift Regional Medical Center for treatment. A hospital spokesman said Friday that Gray remains hospitalized and is listed in fair condition.
