Police in Valdosta say a 24-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an outbreak of shooting at an apartment complex that left one man dead and wounded 10 other people.
Police identified the man arrested Thursday night in the Sunday shootings, which took the life of 19-year-old Sidney Bivens, as Bernard James Sanders of Valdosta. They say he was arrested on a felony murder warrant without incident during a traffic stop near Lake Park, about 10 miles south of Valdosta near the Florida line.
Police Chief Frank Simons says Sanders is being held at the Lowndes County Jail without bond. Police Capt. Bobbi McGraw says the gunfire appears to have started after a series of quarrels broke out in a crowd gathered outside the complex.
