TIFTON —
Tift County Sheriff Gary Vowell, in conjunction with the Mid-South Narcotics Task Force, announces the arrest of Tifton residents Arthur James Murrell, 68 years of age, and Mary Jordan Murrell, 64 years of age.
Both were arrested after Task Force Agents and Tift County Sheriff’s Deputies served a search warrant on their residence located at 212 W. 13th St., Tifton.
The search warrant was the result of a several-month investigation focusing on the Murrells’ suspected drug distribution activity.
During the search, law enforcement seized 32 bags of powdered cocaine, 97 bags of marijuana, 187 Hydrocodone tablets, four handguns and $7,181 in currency.
Arthur James Murrell was charged with possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of Schedule II Hydrocodone with the intent to distribute and four counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Mary Murrell was charged with possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute and possession of Schedule II Hydrocodone with the intent to distribute.
