TIFTON —
The Tifton Truck and Tractor Pull rolls into Tifton on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 24 and 25, at the American Legion Fairgrounds. Sponsored by the Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League and the Southern Pullers Association, truck and tractor pullers from all across the Southeast will compete for Southern Pullers Association Championship points and prize money.
“Tifton and South Georgia enjoy truck and tractor pulling competition,” says Tyron Spearman, tourism coordinator. “When you have three former national champions competing in the four-wheel drive modifieds, you know competition is tough.” Spearman said that Tony O’Steen of West Green, Roy Everett of Doerun and Don Grant of Greenwood, Ind., are tough former national champions who will compete.
Competitive classes include the 5,200-pound Two-Wheel Drive Pro-Street Trucks, the 5,200-pound Two-wheel Drive Modifieds, the 6,200-pound Two-wheel drive Super Modified with Blowers, the 6,000-pound 4-wheel Drive Super Stock Trucks, the 6,200-pound 4-wheel drive Modified Trucks plus the 8,000-pound Super Farm Tractors. Spearman said that the pull will offer an Amateur Class allowing local trucks and tractors the opportunity to try the professional sled.
The Tifton Truck and Tractor Pull is coordinated by the Ag Equipment Technology Club at ABAC with proceeds going to building a new pulling tractor and club activities. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children 6-12 years of age. Children aged 5 years and under will be admitted free.
Gates open at 5 p.m. and the pull starts at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. The pull track is one mile east of downtown Tifton on Highway 82 at the American Legion Fairgrounds.
