One man was killed and another seriously injured after a motorcycle and a bicycle collided at the intersection of Ferry Lake and New River Church roads early Tuesday morning.
According to a spokesperson at the Georgia State Patrol post in Tifton, Gary Brewer, 55, of a Brighton Road address, was traveling east on New River Church Road at approximately 5:30 a.m. Tuesday when he approached the road’s intersection with Ferry Lake Road and failed to stop at the stop sign.
Delano Nickelson, 57, of a Ferry Lake Road address, was driving his Harley Davidson motorcycle south on Ferry Lake Road and struck the bicycle.
The GSP spokesperson said that Brewer was not wearing reflective clothing and was listening to some type of radio with earpieces in his ears at the time of the wreck.
Nickelson died at the scene and Brewer was airlifted to a Macon hospital. Brewer’s condition was unknown at press time.
The GSP’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team out of Valdosta is investigating the wreck.
