TIFTON —
On Nov. 7, United Way of South Central Georgia (UWSGA) launched the first-ever ThanksGiveAway Sweepstakes on Facebook. The sweepstakes runs through Wednesday, Nov. 21, with prize winners announced on Black Friday, Nov. 23.
Individuals can gain multiple entries to the sweepstakes via www.FamilyDinnerTheater.org or on the Family Dinner Theater Facebook page “Win” tab. There are 15 business sponsors that have agreed to contribute $1 per ‘Like’ gained during the sweepstakes up to a preset cap set by each business.
“We’re eager to see what kind of response we get to this new approach and are pleased to have so many local businesses jump on board to give it a try,” said Greg Millette, UWSCGA executive director. “Early results look good with positive feedback from both individual and business participants.”
Sweepstakes prizes are related to the upcoming 10th Annual Family Dinner Theater, set for March 22, 2013, at the UGA-Tifton Campus Conference Center. For this year’s event, UWSCGA will return the Children’s Theatre of Charlotte to the stage for a presentation of “The True Story of the Three Little Pigs.”
The ThanksGiveAway Grand Prize is four tickets to dinner and the show. Four second prizes will also be awarded each a copy of the children’s book on which the play is based.
“We’ve made sweepstakes entry as simple as possible,” said Jannis Paulk, UWSCGA board member and owner of AllCore Technologies, the tech firm responsible for designing the sweepstakes. “While logged in, any Facebook user need only to go to www.FamilyDinnerTheater.org and then follow the on-screen instructions to gain as many as 33 entries. We hope everyone interested in attending Family Dinner Theater will give it a shot.”
Anyone interested in helping United Way, but not interested in the sweepstakes, can still deliver up to $15 to UWSCGA by simply ‘Liking’ the pages of participating businesses in the usual manner. A list of these businesses, with links, is available on the Family Dinner Theater Facebook page at www.Facebook.com/FamilyDinnerTheater.
Participating businesses (listed by Facebook page name) are Al Rodgers Auction & Vicki’s Bargain Barn; AllCore Technology; AllState Insurance - Brian York Agency; Checkers Tifton; Chicken Delite; Device Specialist of Fitzgerald, GA; Fourth Street Interiors; Georgia Museum of Agriculture and Historic Village; Holloway Orthodontics; Nick’s Steak & Pasta; PeachCreek Stores; Prince Automotive Group; Stevi B’s Pizza of Tifton; Tift Regional Medical Center; and Yum Yum Yogurt & Health Foods.
United Way of South Central Georgia serves Ben Hill, Cook, Irwin, Tift and Turner counties, seeking to mobilize the caring power of communities in order to advance the common good across the region. Focused on educational success for children, income stability for families and healthy living for all, UWSCGA is committed to building stronger communities by engaging a diverse group of stakeholders to overcome some of the most difficult social problems facing the region.
“We are always excited to see businesses and individuals across the region living united for the sake of the common good, and we can’t wait to see how that plays out for the good of all in this ThanksGiveAway Sweepstakes,” Millette said.
