TIFTON —
A 20-year-old Tifton man is being treated for what is believed to be a shotgun wound in the stomach.
According to an incident report, Dumas Kevin Rashad, 1110 S. Central Ave., Lot 12, was shot in the lower stomach area by an unknown offender at approximately 10:45 p.m. Wednesday. He was transported to Tift Regional Medical Center by ambulance.
Lt. Lee Dunston of the Tifton Police Dept. said Thursday that Dumas has since been transported to another hospital for treatment. Dunston said that the victim’s family told him that they would let him know if his condition worsened. He said he had not talked with the family today.
Dunston said the wounds observed by the responding officers were those consistent with shotgun wounds they had seen before.
“I can’t comment on motive or the events leading to the shooting,” Dunston said. “The investigation is ongoing.”
Dunston said it is the understanding of those investigating the incident that the shooting happened outside the residence at 1113 S. Central Ave., Lot 11.
