TIFTON —
The 15th annual Sweetheart Run is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 11 at Rehabilitation Services of Tifton/Tifton Fitness & Wellness Center. The event will consist of a 5K Sweetheart Run at 9 a.m. and a One Mile Clot Trot at 9:45 a.m.
“The one mile is called the ‘Clot Trot’ because this year, the race will help benefit Hemophilia of Georgia,” said Cindy Spurlin of Rehabilitation Services of Tifton. “My youngest son Jake was born with Hemophilia A. I’ve seen firsthand how much HoG benefits those families affected by this disease, and I’m very glad to help assist their fight for a cure.”
Hemophilia of Georgia is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing services and support for Georgians who have hemophilia and other inherited bleeding disorders. HoG exists so that people in Georgia affected by bleeding disorders live as normally and productively as possible.
CEO of Hemophilia of Georgia Trish Dominic states, “Hemophilia of Georgia is so thrilled to be chosen to receive the funds from the Sweetheart Run this year to support our programs and services for people who have bleeding disorders. We are thankful to the runners and event organizers who are reaching out to help others this Valentine’s Day.”
Trophies will be awarded to the overall male and female winners of the 5K and the one mile, the male and female masters of the 5K, and the top three finishers in each age group for ages 19 and under for both events. Travel insulated mugs will be awarded to the top three finishers in each age group for ages 20 and over for both events.
All pre-registered runners will be guaranteed a long-sleeve event T-shirt.
The 2011 overall male winner of the 5K was Hunter Honeycutt of Tifton with a time of 17:00. The overall female winner was Hunter’s sister, Madison Honeycutt of Tifton, with a time of 22:06.
