Several burglaries reported

TIFTON — Local law enforcement agencies responded to several burglaries and other incidents in the area over the weekend.

According to an incident report filed at the Tift County Sheriff’s Office, an officer arrived at Magnolia Plantation on Omega-Eldorado Road early Sunday morning to discover that the front door had been broken. The offender was still on scene. The report states that Bobby Jean Carr, 35, 104 E. Church St., Hahira, was arrested and charged with burglary.

In another matter, a 22-year-old man reported Friday that he had been “jumped on and beat down” by several black males. He told police that he was walking to a local convenience store around 6 p.m., and at the corner of Alder Street and Main Street, a group of black males attacked him.

The man reported that the suspects had bats, sticks and metal pipes. He stated that they beat, stomped, punched and kicked him for several minutes. He told police that the suspects left him lying on the ground, and his cousin drove him to the emergency room.

Officer Richard Varn, who responded to the hospital, reported that the man was having a hard time giving information due to his injuries. The man had several scratches, both eyes were swollen and bruised, and his jaw was dislocated, possibly broken, he reported. Varn also reported that the man had a lot of blood coming out of his mouth, possibly stemming from internal injuries.

This case is an ongoing investigation.

In other unrelated cases:

• A man who lives in the 1300 block of Berry Lane reported Saturday that someone forcibly entered his residence and took items valued at $605.

• A woman who lives in the 2500 block of Old Ocilla Road reported Sunday that someone entered her residence while she was out of town and took several electronic items.

• A man reported Sunday that someone was on the property of a residence located in the 2700 block of Highway 41 North piling up scrap metal tin in the bushes.

• A woman who lives in the 700 block of East Sixth 1/2 Street reported Sunday that someone broke into her residence and stole a Xbox 360 game system and two flat screen televisions.

• A woman who lives in the 1600 block of Valley Drive reported Sunday that the front door to her residence was damaged by someone trying to break in. The report states that the door was damaged beyond repair. No entry was made into the residence.

• A woman who lives on Tifton-Eldorado Road reported early Monday morning that while she was sleeping, someone threw a brick through her bedroom window. She contacted E-911 for help. There were no offenders on scene, the report states.

• A woman who lives in the 1100 block of Crescent Drive reported Saturday that someone entered her residence and took some items.

• A man who lives in the 150 block of South Church Street in Ty Ty reported Sunday that two of the windows on the front of his house were broken by someone.

• A man reported Sunday that someone removed the newspaper stand from the sidewalk at the Post Office on John Howard Way.
