TIFTON — Roy Charles Woods, 70, of Tifton died Thursday, March 4, 2010 at Heritage Healthcare in Ashburn. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Southview Mortuary Chapel with burial to follow at Tift Memorial Gardens with full military honors. A repast will be held at the community center on South Central Avenue following the service.
Mr. Woods was born Nov. 9, 1939 in Tifton to the late John L. Woods and the late Vastine Gray Woods. He was a veteran in the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Army. He served in the Army during World War II. He earned a Medal of Honor and the Distinguished Service Cross.
Survivors include his wife, Runell Woods; three daughters and sons-in-law, Emma and Felix Turner, Veronica and Marcell Lane and Michelle and Eddie Stokes; one sister, Bevelyn Woods; four brothers, John Willie Wood, Leroy Woods, Johnny Lee Woods and Melvin Woods; two grandchildren, Felix Turner II and Domonique Hammack; and one great-grandchild, Jamari Turner.
