Ruth Laverne Wood Rising, 83, of Tifton, formerly of Windham, Ohio, was greeted into eternity by her Savior Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at her daughter’s residence. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors with the Rev. Chad Rising, her grandson, officiating. An interment will held be at a later date at Windham Cemetery, Windham, Ohio. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Rising was born Oct. 9, 1929, in Windham, Ohio on the family farm, as the seventh child of the late Millard Wood and Helen Greene Wood. She graduated from WHS in 1947 and in 1948 she married her husband Harold. Together they formed H and H Builders in Windham, Ohio.
Mrs. Rising had lived in Tifton for 18 years. Mrs. Rising was a homemaker who committed her life to caring for Harold the love of her life and her children, always witnessing of Jesus to all around her. She loved to sing, cook and entertain.
Mrs. Rising is survived by her husband, to whom she had been married 65 years, Harold Clyde Rising of Tifton; her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas Glenn and Peggy Rising of Killbuck, Ohio; her daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and David Strawman of Quincy, Ill., Cynthia and Matthew Swain of Austintown, Ohio, and Valarie and J. D. Crosby of Tifton; her brother and sister-in-law, Norman and Mary Wood of Hiram, Ohio; her sister, Nira Giddings of Maryland; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
