Joyce Metts Grubbs

DAWSON — Joyce Metts Grubbs, 84, of Dawson, died Jan. 29, 2013 at her residence. A private family service will be held at the Metts Cemetery in Alapaha. The family will receive friends at the residence of Mrs. Grubbs from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday.

A native of Alapaha, Mrs. Grubbs moved to Albany as a young child and graduated from Albany High School in 1945. She moved to Terrell County in 1983, was a former nurse with Dr. Robert Groves, a homemaker and member of the First United Methodist Church of Albany.  Mrs. Grubbs was a wonderful cook, mother, grandmother and Mema. She was preceded in death by the father of her children, J.R. Grubbs.

Survivors include her children, James Grubbs and Jeff Grubbs and his wife, Tracy, all of Dawson; Judy Drummond and her husband, Robert, of Acworth; and Joy Register, and her husband, Joe, of Sylvester; four grandchildren, Michele Register McCook, and her husband, Craig, of Albany; Ron Register of Sylvester, Jordan Grubbs and Hannah Grubbs of Dawson; a great-grandchild, Cameron McCook of Albany; and a sister, Mildred Hearn, of Albany.

In lieu of flowers those desiring may make donations to Albany Community Hospice, 320 Foundation Drive, Albany, GA, 31707.
