Homer F. Brown

LENOX — Mr. Homer F. Brown, 90, of Lenox, and part-time resident of Jacksonville, Fla., died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013 at his residence in Jacksonville. Funeral services will be held  at 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Boone Funeral Home with the Rev. Fred Evers officiating and Carrie Connell providing the eulogy.  Interment will follow at Lakeview Church Cemetery in Lenox with the Rev. Ray Mayfield officiating. Mr. Brown's family will receive friends from 6 until 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Boone Funeral Home, 1804 S. Hutchinson Ave., Adel.

He was born on Feb. 2, 1922 in Eldorado to the late Clarence Eugene and Lonice Blount Brown. Mr. Brown was an Army veteran of World War II, worked as a farmer in his younger years and later became a lab foreman for Sinclair and Valentine Ink Company. He attended Northside Baptist Church in Tifton. He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Livette Connell Brown and a brother, Albert Brown.

Mr. Brown is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Phil and Joanne Brown, and a daughter and son-in-law, Jo Ann and Jim Bishop, all of Jacksonville; four grandchildren, Jennifer Brown of Jacksonville; Jason and Stacy Brown of Hudson, Iowa; and  David Bishop and Amy Bishop, both of Jacksonville; one great-grandchild, Davis Brown of Hudson, Iowa; and two sisters, Ruth Gibbs of Lenox and Mary Lou Griffin of Nashville.
