Mildred Grace Fletcher Byrge Decker

CHULA — Mildred Grace Fletcher Byrge Decker, 77, of Chula, died Sunday, Aug. 29, 2010, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Eureka Primitive Baptist Church. Elder Jamey Tucker and Elder Jeff Harris will officiate with burial to follow at Eureka Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Jamie Wood, Jesse Wood, Travis Wood, Nathan Decker, Eric Fletcher and Russell Hullett will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be Ethan Wood.

Mrs. Decker was born on July 24, 1933 in Irwin County and was the daughter of Joe Thomas Fletcher and Margaret Brown Fletcher, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Henry Hugh Byrge, and her second husband, Wilbur E. Decker. She was a homemaker and a member of Eureka Primitive Baptist Church. She graduated from Irwinville High School and loved Southern Gospel music. She was an excellent cook and her cinnamon rolls were highly prized among her friends and family.

Mrs. Decker is survived by one son, Donald Hugh Byrge of Chula; two daughters and one son-in-law, Cynthia Byrge and James Frick of Flowery Branch and Phyllis A. and Jim Decker of Niceville, Fla.; one brother, Joseph Fletcher of Chula; one sister, Sarah Frances Jones of Chula; five grandchildren, James Wood, Jesse Wood, Travis Wood, Nathan Decker and Brooke Decker; nine great-grandchildren, Ethan Wood, Emily Wood, Jessika Sanborn, T. J. Sanborn, Sabre Wood, Jeremiah Wood, Jacob Wood, Kaylee Decker and Brodie Decker; and a special friend, Juanita Mouser of Chula.
