VALDOSTA —
Wilma Cardwell Schroer, 78, of Valdosta, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home. The Reverend John Akers and the Reverend Bob Willis will officiate. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Schroer was born in Tifton Nov. 10, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Bill Cardwell and Ilene Hardgrave. After graduation from Tift High School, Mrs. Schroer moved with her family to Valdosta. She worked for several years as a secretary for various Valdosta businesses, including Modern Homes, South Georgia Pecan Company and Valdosta State College. She was a member and Elder at Twin Lakes Presbyterian Church and she dearly loved her church. She and her late husband, Herbert A. Schroer, enjoyed traveling, especially to Europe, playing cards and bowling. Wilma also loved to play Bridge and golf with the ladies.
Survivors are her son and daughter- in- law, Bill and Kris Watson of Valdosta; step-daughters and step- sons- in- law, Ginger and Ashley Paulk, Martha Kay and David Waldron of Valdosta; sister and brother- in- law, Remar and Larry Smith of Anniston, Ala.; nine grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
