ALBANY —
Rossiline Powell Shiver, 88, of Albany, died Sunday Jan. 27, 2013 at Willson Hospice House in Albany.
The graveside service was held at 3 p.m. Monday Jan. 28, 2013 at the Hillcrest Cemetery with the Rev. Grady Morey officiating.
Mrs. Shiver was born on June 24, 1924 in Worth County to the late Alex Rephard and Judie Ona Young Powell. She had lived in Dougherty County since 1949 and worked at Turner Air Force Base during World War II, and later retired after 17 years from the University of Georgia Extension Service in Dougherty County. Mrs. Shiver was a Girl Scout Leader for 20 years, a member of the AARP, Golden Key Club, Senior Friends at Palmyra and the Georgia Extension Service Retirees. She was a member of the Radium Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Deborah Shiver Nelson (John David) of Ashburn; son, Bobby E. Shiver (Lorraine) of Lee County; brothers, Dr. Hugh M. Powell of Fayetteville, N.C.; Retired Col. Jack Powell of Dawson; sister, Judy P. Sutton of Sumner; grandchildren, John David Nelson Jr., Richard J. Nelson, Cory P. Whiddon, Cassie Shiver Stewart (Jason), Justin B. Shiver (Haley) and Danielle Shiver; and great-grandchildren, Trey Nelson, Gage Stewart amd Addy Stewart.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Shiver was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest J. Shiver on July 2, 1989, a daughter, Cindy S. Whiddon on June 3, 1985, sisters, Christine Powell and Hattie Mae Price, and a brother, Walter W. Powell.
