Donna Elizabeth Tillman, 52, of Tifton, died Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012, at Tift Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church of Tifton with the Rev. Craig Nalls and the Rev. Murray Hand officiating. Private interment will be held at a later date. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 tonight at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors.
The Tifton Fire Department Honor Guard will serve as pallbearers. The Tift County High School Air Rifle Team, UPS employees, the Harding Volunteer Fire Department and the Tifton-Tift County Fire Department will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Ms. Tillman was born Nov. 21, 1959, in Moultrie to Ronald Edward Tillman of Berlin and Shirley Ann Watson Tillman of Berlin. She was preceded in death by a sister, Rhonda Jeanette Tillman.
Ms. Tillman was a graduate of Colquitt County High School, Class of 1977, and a graduate of ABAC. She was a package driver with UPS for 33 years where she was a James E. Casey Community Service award winner in 2006 and 2007. She headed up “Santa’s Bags” charity and was a Relay for Life volunteer. Ms. Tillman was the recipient of many other awards for her volunteer work, including: the Becky Mann Volunteer of the Year in 2006 from the City of Tifton, the Tifton Gazette 2010 Readers’ Choice Award as Best Volunteer, and the U.S. President’s Volunteer Award from President Barack Obama. Ms. Tillman was a P.O.S.T. Certified Police Officer, a Certified Firefighter and First Responder, and a volunteer at the Harding Fire Department. She adored her daughter, Brooke, and traveled with her to many destinations. She and Brooke both loved hunting, camping and being outdoors,. Ms. Tillman was a devoted animal lover and a dedicated mother to everything Brooke did. She was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Tillman is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Brooke Hester of Tifton; her sister, Roxanne Anderson of Berlin; her nephew, Christian Stamets of Naples, Fla.; her special cat, “Angel”; and many, many close friends.
