Emma Woods


TIFTON — Emma Louise Danforth Woods, 84, of Tifton died Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. The Rev. Johnny Woods and the Rev. Bill Barksdale will officiate with burial to follow at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Mike Woods, Donnie Woods, Jimmy Woods, Brandon Harper, John Danforth and Ken Kelly will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Earl Blanchard, Ernest Giddens, Darrell Woods, Roger Woods, J. D. Lindsey and Bronzal Dixon.

Mrs. Woods was born March 4, 1925 in Berrien County, and was the daughter of Jessie Lee Danforth and Emma Belle Rogers Danforth, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by one son, Harold Gene Woods; one brother, John W. Danforth; one sister, Velma Kelly; and one grandson, Darren Johnson. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She loved cooking for her family, fishing and working in her garden.

Mrs. Woods is survived by her husband, J.B. Woods Jr. of Tifton; one son, Jimmy Ray Woods Sr. of Tifton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Emmett Nasworthy of Tifton and Reida and Mark Evans of Tifton; two sisters, Jewel Harper of Tifton and Bertha Lindsey of Tifton; 10 grandchildren, Alicia Couvillon, Jimmy Woods, Diana Christy, Michael Branch, Mike Woods, Johnny Woods, Donnie Woods, Brandon Harper, Ryan Evans and Ross Evans; and 14 great-grandchildren.
