James T. ‘Jimmy’ Kilgore

IRWINVILLE — James T. “Jimmy” Kilgore, 55, of Irwinville, died Friday, March 31, 2006, at Irwin County Hospital in Ocilla.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Irwinville Baptist Church, Irwinville. The Rev. Stan Bowen and the Rev. L.A. “Sonny” Pate will officiate. Burial will follow at Irwinville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at the Paulk Funeral Home, Fitzgerald.

Mr. Kilgore was born Aug. 6, 1950, in San Diego, Calif., to LaVerne T. Kilgore and the late James C. “Jim” Kilgore.

He had lived in the community since 1981 coming from Charleston, S.C.

He was a 1968 graduate of Garrett High School in Charleston, a 1970 graduate of Berkeley-Charleston-Dorchester Technical Education Center and worked as a mechanic while in Charleston. He attended Valdosta State College in Valdosta and was retired machine shop instructor for East Central Technical College.

He was a farmer and a member of the National Rifle Association, Ducks Unlimited and the Bass Club. Mr. Kilgore was a member of the Dorchester-Waylon Baptist Church in Charleston, S.C.

Mr. Kilgore is survived by his wife, Shirley Goodale Kilgore of Irwinville; one daughter and son-in-law, Brandy and Robbie Tindall of Roswell; and his mother, LaVerne T. Kilgore of Irwinville.

Mary Flanigan Ballew

TIFTON — Mary Flanigan Ballew, 86, of Tifton, formerly of Albany, died Friday, March 31, 2006, at Tift Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Hall & Hall Funeral Home with Dr. William E. “Butch” Knight Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hall & Hall Funeral Home in Albany.

Mrs. Ballew was born Dec. 5, 1919, in Albany. The daughter of the late John Rufus Flanigan and Bessie Lillian Walton Flanigan, she was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Albany.

Preceded in death by her husband, Mark McKinley Ballew, seven brothers and three sisters, Mrs. Ballew is survived by a daughter, Shirley Ballew of Tifton; sons and daughters-in-law, Stan and Pam Ballew of Tifton and Keith and Linda Ballew of Phoenix, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and nieces and nephews.

Hall & Hall Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
