Lionel LaFoye Pipkin
VALDOSTA—Lionel LaFoye Pipkin, 71, of Valdosta, died Wednesday, May 9, 2007, at his home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home, with the Rev. Wayne Hughes, the Rev. Raymond Gabbard and the Rev. Joe Bridges officiating. Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery in Tifton. Mr. Pipkin was born in 1935 in Tifton to the late Oscar and Evelyn Evers Pipkin and had lived in Valdosta since January of 1973. He retired in 1998 as a marketing specialist. He was a member of the Forrest Street Church of God and his main goal in life was living for the Lord.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Marlene Cauthen Pipkin of Valdosta; two sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Diana Pipkin of Valdosta and Wendell and Donna Pipkin of Thomasville; grandchildren and their spouses, Michael Shannon Pipkin, Mark and Sydney Pipkin, Tony Pipkin, Amber Pipkin, Jenny P. and Chris Holt, Charlotte P. and Jerry Butler, Kris Johnson, Kasey Johnson; one great-granddaughter, Kylie Holt; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Helen Pipkin of Columbus, Ind.; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Daphne Brewer of Tifton, Chris Cauthen of Montgomery, Ala., Arthur and Ruth Cauthen and Bob and Audrey Cauthen, all of Tifton. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Maggie Evers and Sam and Candace Pipkin.
