Carroll I. “Buddy” Tucker, 72 of Tifton, died Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010 at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the chapel of Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors with the Rev. Adam Craig Tucker, the Rev. Barry Gay and the Rev. Eric L. Sizemore officiating. Burial will be held at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at from 6 to 8 tonight at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors.
Pallbearers will be Michael Goodman, Justin Goodman, Stoney Layfield, Chris Goodman, Ron Evans, Greg Shepherd, Mike Beggs, Freddie Miller, Carroll Pridgen and Darrell Sumner.
Mr. Tucker was born in Kirkland Feb. 22, 1938 to Walter Tillman Tucker and Gladys Moore Tucker, both deceased. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Tifton.
Mr. Tucker enjoyed reading books, playing tennis, especially with the late Buddy Childs, playing cards with his grandchildren and going to Tea Party meetings. He attended Young Harris College, where he played tennis, and the University of Georgia. He also was the owner of Peachtree Park Mobile Home Manufacturing in Ashburn and the former owner of Tucker Meats in Blackshear.
Mr. Tucker is survived by his wife, Charlene Gay Tucker of Tifton; his children, Lisa and Chris Goodman of Sumner, the Rev. Adam Craig and Cindy Tucker, and Hope and Stoney Layfield, all of Tifton; two sisters, Tonya Tucker of Waycross and Kathryn Powell of Milledgeville; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Barry and Ina Gay of Tifton; his grandchildren, Justin Goodman, Michael Goodman, Mitchell Layfield, Hardy Goodman, Mason Layfield, Grace Esco and Matthew Layfield; and several nieces and nephews.
