Charles Phillip Soles

TIFTON — Charles Phillip Soles, 83, of Tifton, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors with Dr. Danny Ray officiating. Burial will follow at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors.

Grandsons of Mr. Soles, along with Toby Johnson, will serve as pallbearers.

Born Sept. 2, 1929, in Irwin County to the late Charlie Soles and Mary Brady Soles, Mr. Soles was also preceded in death on Nov. 26, 2007, by his wife, Mary Lou Ramsey Soles, to whom  he was married 57 years at the time of her death; one daughter, Mary Frances Bohannon who died in 2008; one son, Leonard Soles who died in 1999; two grandchildren, Lonnie Jackson Soles and Jocelyn Turnbull; one brother, Nathan Soles; and four sisters, Thelma Ray, Marie Harper, Fanny Newbold, and Florence Solomon.

Mr. Soles had lived in Tifton all of his life and was retired as a self-employed painter.  His friends knew him as “Slick.”  He enjoyed fishing, spending time with his family, and working in his yard.  Mr. Soles loved God and being with people.  He was of the Pentecostal faith.

Mr. Soles is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Devon and Janice Soles of Tifton and Gary Soles of Tifton; one daughter, Bonnie Goldinger of Bluffton, S.C.; twelve grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one brother and one sister-in-law, James Perry and Marie Soles of New Port Richey, Fla.
