Charlie M. ‘C. M.’ Sauls

OCILLA — Charlie M. "C. M." Sauls, 87, of Ocilla, formerly of Key West, Fla., died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today in the chapel of Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors with the Rev. Clayton Dowd officiating. Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery. Blake Watson, Roy Watson, Robert Tucker, Randy Rowan, Brad Watson and Cadley Spivey will serve as pallbearers.

Born Nov. 22, 1925, in Omega to the late Thomas Allen Sauls and Georgia Mae Nobles Sauls, Mr. Sauls graduated from the Ty Ty High School, then served in the United States Navy in World War II.  He was a retired correctional officer with the Monroe County, Fla., Sheriff’s Department, and enjoyed working in his yard and building things.  He spent time coaching his children’s sports teams and participating in their activities and he loved being at his home and being in the country.  Mr. Sauls was a member of the Ocilla Church of God.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Sauls was also preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Sauls and Virlyn Russell Sauls, one sister, Hilda Sauls Warren, and one son, Charles Allen Sauls.

Mr. Sauls is survived by his wife, Josephine James Sauls of Ocilla; his children, Chris Sauls of Key West, Fla., Cathy Sauls and Tommy Sauls, both of Martinez, Cyndi Warren of Ocilla and Roy Watson and wife, Missy, of Ocilla; two brothers, Rufus (Boots) Sauls and wife, Barbara, of Sneads, Fla., and John Sauls and wife, Linda, of Omega; one sister, Sandra Sauls of Tifton; five grandchildren, Josh Warren and wife, Nicole; Brad Watson, Blake Watson, Bryce Watson, Elisa Spivey and husband, Cadley, and Kasie Hutto; two great-grandchildren, Emily Alexis Warren and Bailey Grace Warren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the American Cancer Society-Tift County Unit, P.O. Box 8, Tifton, GA 31793 or the Ocilla Church of God, P.O. Box 611, Ocilla, GA 31774.
