Robert Branch Sr.

TIFTON — Robert Branch Sr., 82, of Tifton, died Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Oakridge Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Houseal and Dr. W. Wayne Roe officiating. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Born Aug. 21, 1927, in Fort Myers, Fla., to the late William “Willie” Branch and Myrtle Williams Branch, Mr. Branch was also preceded in death by a daughter, Lorraine Branch Taylor; a son, William “Billy” Branch; and a grandson, Josh Branch.

Mr. Branch was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran who served in Guam and the Phillipines. He was the former police chief for the City of Tifton and was employed with Parramore and Griffin Chemical Co. in Valdosta. Mr. Branch loved motorcycles and to hunt and fish on his family farm. He was a member of the Chula United Methodist Church.

Mr. Branch is survived by his wife, Delia O. Branch of Tifton, to whom he was married for 62 years; his son, Robert Branch Jr., of Chula; his daughter, Patricia “Patsy” Branch Moore of Chula; a grandson who was reared by Mr. and Mrs. Branch, William Branch Taylor of Chula; his other grandchildren, Ryan and Christee Branch, Marianne Moore Lovett and Todd Lovett, and William Errett (Rett) Moore III, and Amanda Hurst Moore; and his great-grandchildren, Josh Branch, Mackenzie Branch, William Todd Lovett Jr., Trevor Moore Lovett, Caleb Errett Moore, and Eli Hurst Moore.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Chula, #1 Academy Dr., Chula, GA 31733. You may sign the guest registry at www.albritton-beaumontfuneralhome.com. Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.
