Ray Lord Jr.

TIFTON — Emmett McCrae “Ray” Lord Jr., 66, of Tifton, died Monday, Oct. 26, 2009 at Tift Health Care. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors with the Rev. T. Manuel Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors.

Ricky Barnes, Steven Smith, Randy Carmichael, Scott Sheffield, Greg Sumner and Tim Sumner will serve as pallbearers.

Born Dec. 24, 1942, in Worth County to the late Emmett M. Lord Sr. and Lillian Vivian Williams Lord Thompson, Mr. Lord was also preceded in death by one sister, Janet Carr.

Mr. Lord had retired from Plumbers & Steamfitters Local Union #368. A lifetime resident of Tift County, he was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Tifton. He enjoyed fishing, professional wrestling, and working on the farm. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Lord loved animals and his dogs and loved to travel. Mr. Lord’s family would like to thank the staff at Tift Health Care and Bethany Hospice for their kindness and care.

Mr. Lord is survived by his wife, Cathy Hughes Lord of Tifton; three daughters and one son-in-law, Renae and Kenneth Moore of Eldorado, Gina Doty of Tifton, and Lori Tomlinson of Nashville; two stepsons and one stepdaughter-in-law, Tim and Janet Sumner and Greg Sumner, all of Tifton; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Joyce Carmichael, of Tifton.

Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made to Bethany Hospice, 2517 Bemiss Rd., Ste. D, Valdosta, GA 31602. You may sign the guest registry at www.albritton-beaumontfuneralhome.com. Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.
