WARNER ROBINS — The Rev. Robert Jay Hancock Sr., 89, of Warner Robins died Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009 at Perry Hospital, Heart of Georgia. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Lakeview Baptist Church with the Rev. Dillard Ensley and Paul Hancock officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Church Cemetery with the Rev. Simmie G. Hancock and the Rev. James M. Hancock officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Boone-Lipsey Funeral Home in Adel.
Rev. Hancock was born Dec. 18, 1919 in Lenox to the late Sim Griffin Hancock and Hattie Ruth Allen Hancock. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Suzanne B. Hancock; and two brothers, Charles J. Hancock and Billy J. Hancock. He had lived most of his life in Virginia before moving back to Georgia 23 years ago. He was a retired minister and a member of Lakeview Baptist Church. He was founder of World Faith Ministries.
Survivors include his son, Ret. Colonel Robert Jay “Bob” Hancock Jr. of Warner Robins; daughters and sons-in-law, Kay H. and Doug Crawford of Concord, N.C., and Judith H. and Dr. James P. Matthesen of Phoenix, Ariz.; brothers, the Rev. James M. Hancock of Barney and the Rev. Simmie G. Hancock of Palmer, Texas; sisters, Mary B. Freeman of Lenox; grandchildren, Dawn Hunnicutt, Robert Douglas Jr., Zachary Hancock Crawford, Lindsey Britton Crawford, Alison Carrie Roane, Peter Hancock Matthesen; and three great-grandchildren.
Boone-Lipsey Funeral Home in Adel is in charge of arrangements.
