Lindsey L. Burch

ENIGMA — Lindsey L. Burch, 88, of Enigma died Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009 at Carl Vinson Memorial Hospital in Dublin. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Enigma City Cemetery with the Rev. Mark Stone officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers with Ronald Stone, Walter Strange, Johnny King, Leroy Little, Bobby Sumner, Jerry Whitley and Bobby Rowan serving as honorary pallbearers.

Mr. Burch was born Oct. 17, 1921 in Ambrose, to the late Matthias Burch and Janie Coleman Burch. He studied drama, acting and singing in New York City and attended City College in Los Angeles, Calif. He enjoyed his acting roles in western movies while in California and made recordings playing the piano and guitar. He had a career in sales and was retired from public relations. He was a member of Enigma Congregational Christian Church and loved his church, his Lord and his congregation and everyone he came in contact with. He was an Army veteran of World War II and coached boys basketball in Enigma after his tenure in the U.S. Army. He was Golden Glove Champion and enjoyed painting, singing and saltwater fishing.

Mr. Burch is survived by his wife, Anita Stewart Stovall Burch of Enigma; son and daughter-in-law, Matthias and Stephanie Burch of Valdosta; daughter, Laura Burch of Warner Robins; brother, Ray Burch of Surprise, Ariz.; sisters, Lois Pietkiewicz of Surprise, Ariz., and Edna Stansfield of Macon; and grandchildren, Taylor Burch, Alex Burch, Maria Becerra, Joshua Burch and Gary Blair.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Association. You may sign the online guest registry at www.bowen-donaldson.com. Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals is in charge of arrangements.
